KangaROOS x The Rake "The Negroni Love Affair"

The "History"
Founded in 2008, The Rake is one of the world's leading platforms to embrace the codes of classic male elegance. The Rake is inspired by icons such as Cary Grant, Gianni Agnelli, Sean Connery and their contemporary counterparts. The focus is on men's fashion, art and design, travel, intellectual and philosophical matters, gentlemanly living, means of transport, entertainment, food and drink.

A Negroni is an Italian cocktail made of one part gin, one part Vermouth Rosso (red, semi-sweet) and one part Campari, garnished with an orange zest. A traditionally made Negroni is stirred, not shaken, and served in an old-fashioned or rocks glass.

While the actual origin of the drink is unknown, several sources suggest that it was first offered in Florence in 1919, at Caffè Casoni (later Caffè Giacosa) on Via de Tornabuoni.

In honor of this wonderful drink, we've teamed up with The Rake to commemorate it.

The "Sneaker"
The sneaker resulting from this cooperation represents the Negroni to the fullest. The finest nubuck leather in a light shade of gray represents the gin. On the back and inside the shoe, a dark red is reminiscent of sweet vermouth in combination with delicious Campari. Small orange details reflect the drink's orange slice. The Italian Dolce Vita theme is underlined by the seersucker material. On the tongues there is an embroidered logo in the form of tumbler glasses, which clarify the mixing ratio - supported by 3 shoelaces in the colors of the drink. The heel features an embroidered Negroni glass and the slogan CHEERS MF is embossed on the inside of the shoe. In addition, KangaROOS toast each other on the insole. A lace tag completes the whole theme.

Of course, the entire concept also extends to the box and gimmicks. Included is a copy of Camillo Negroni's original letter, as well as a mug, spoon and small bottle to celebrate when it's five o'clock again - Negroni time!
